Rock the Race and raise money to help local youth become better leaders for tomorrow!
Rock the Race proceeds support teen leadership programs at YMCA Camp Winnebago. These programs include adventure education programs providing teambuilding, climbing, and high ropes experiences for local youth, environmental education programs, and a 6 week summer apprentice counselor program.
ROCK THE RACE
Get wet and dirty in the YMCA of Rock River Valley’s Annual Rock the Race. This 8 hour or 4 hour adventure race is designed to challenge both novice and experienced racers. Held through out numerous Winnebago County Forest Preserves, Rock the Race will lead you on a completely unique adventure.
Teams of 2-4 racers in co-ed, or non co-ed divisions, will plot a course utilizing multiple disciplines. The open format race includes biking, canoeing, trekking, orienteering, ropes section, and mystery events.
Each team will receive information at the start of the race to help them decide how to approach the course. The object of the race is to locate "checkpoints" along the course. A score is given each time a team locates a "checkpoint". The team with the highest score, in each division, wins. (Teams must return to the finish line within the 8 or 4 hour time limit to be considered ranked.)

RACE DETAILS
Race central is located at the Puri-Crest shelter on the east end of Rock Cut State Park. Parking is available right at the shelter. The canoes will be stationed at the boat launch, just north of the parking area.
If you need a canoe, please let us know. Rental from Camp Winnebago is $25 and includes pfds and paddles. They are available first come first serve.
Check in for the 8 hour race starts at 6:30am with a pre race meeting at 7:30. The 4 hour racers can check in starting at 9:30 with a pre race meeting at 10:30.
