Historically and to this day, the YMCA is committed to putting Christian principles into practice through its many programs and its people who carry those principles forward.

The Y is interested in your spiritual and mental health as well as your physical well being. To that end we offer studies, classes, times for prayer and other opportunities for spiritual strengthening throughout the year for Y members and the community. Here are some current ways you can plug into the Y spiritually. Watch the calendar section of the Y website for upcoming events. New ideas are always welcome!
 

BIBLE STUDY

Wednesday Nights from 5-6pm in the Y-Cafe at the ID Pennock Family Y.  You are invited to interact with the inpiring discussions on what the Bible has to say.  Drop by for 10 minutes or stay for an hour. Discussion time will provide you the opportunity to investigate the Bible, to ask questions about what it is and to undersand how it affects you.  Everyone is Welcome!
 

PRAYER BOX

We have placed a wooden box just outside of the Y-Cafe at the I.D. Pennock Family YMCA, in the lower level hallway at the Northeast Family YMCA, and at the welcome desk at the Willie D. Ashford YMCA. There you can anonymously drop off a prayer request. There is no limit to how many requests you may have or what you may want prayer for. A team of intercessors will pray for your requests personally and regularly. We invite you to share your concerns with us so we can support you spiritually. Strict confidentiality will be adhered to. 

PRAYER GATHERING

There is an open time for prayer, October - April, every Wednesday morning from 7-8:30am in the Log Lodge at the I.D. Pennock Family Y. During May - September, we move our prayer time to the bottom of the west waterfall at Anderson Gardens. We invite silent prayer, spoken prayer and the opportunity to have others pray with you. All are welcome!

THE CHRISTIAN EMPHASIS TEAM

The Christian Emphasis team meets quarterly, in the Y Cafe in the I.D. Pennock Family Y; dates, locations and times TBA. We would love you to be a part of this team and join us in discussing ways to enhance the spiritual development aspect of our YMCA.
