Family Zumbatonics - Free
Family ZUMBATONICS for youth is a modified version of Zumba Fitness. Dance moves and Latin music are used to make fitness fun. Family ZUMBA is designed to improve motor coordination and listening skills. Dance moves and kid approved fun makes this 40 minute group glass “exercise in disguise”. Ditch the workout and join the dance party!

Boys and girls in grades 2nd through 6th grade. Create a school team, church team, community center team, or sign up as an individual.

Classes are taught by either Ed Stiltner, an 8th Degree Belt with 40 years of experience in martial arts or by Joe & Candee Sharp.

Free for Teens: Retreat, Refresh, & Renew (11 to 16 yrs)
Meet each Wednesday, 6:30-7:30 pm in the National Lock Gym for friends and fun! Each week will feature a different activity.
Youth Boot Camp (10 - 14 yrs) - Free
Let’s get moving! Youth Boot Camp will help you build cardio and muscular endurance. Increase flexibility and strength by incorporating a variety of different equipment, such as medicine ball, resistance band, etc. Come for the experience, stay for the challenge! All fitness levels are welcome.
Meets at the Northeast Branch, Wednesdays 7:15 PM - 8 PM in Studio 2, and Thursdays 5 PM - 5:45 PM in Studio 1.
Youth Fit for Life (5 to 12 yrs) - Free
This class is for kids ages 5 - 12 to come and experience cardiovascular and strength training in a non-competitive and cooperative environment. Interactive, age-appropriate training teaches goal setting and positive self-talk. With the help of a trainer, children will learn to divide long-term goals into short-term goals and create fun ways to chart their progress.
At the ID Pennock Branch, Mondays and Thursdays 4:45 PM - 5:30 PM in the National Lock Gym OR
at the Northeast Branch, Tuesdays and Wednesdays 5:30 PM - 6:15 PM in Studio 2.
Youth Handball (13 to 18 yrs)
A FREE 1-hour class for new members and new players who want to learn the basic rules, and strategies of handball.

Youth Racquetball (8 to 14 yrs)
Coed lessons for those who want to learn the basic rules and strategies of racquetball.

Youth Basketball League (5 to 12 yrs)
Three weeks and 5 games will be played with teams of 10. Each team will have a a volunteer coach. Practices will be held before games are played. Please read schedule carefully. 5 and 6 year old games will be refereed, but no score will be kept. Games for 7-12 year olds will be refereed and scored. Players will receive a FREE t-shirt.
Parent volunteers needed to coach. No Experience necessary. The Y will provide basic training.

Food is Fun
Through child-driven, hands-on activities children will be encouraged to expand the variety of foods in their diet; add more fruits, vegetables and grains to the foods they already eat; and construct a diet lower in fat.

Night at the YMCA
Every Tuesday at the ID Pennock Branch and Thursday at the Northeast Branch the brochure will come to life between the hours of 5:30-7:30 pm. There will be fun activities for members of all ages. Stop by and meet friendly staff and learn about exciting opportunities for the whole family.

Learn to Row (13 -18 yrs)
This class introduces you to the proper use of equipment, the physical technique, efficiency, and safety. It includes open water rowing lessons. You will need to complete a basic swimming test before you are allowed to go on open water rows. Learn to Row classes are required for anyone with no previous rowing experience. Adult classes are limited to 8 participants in each class. Youth classes are limited to 16 participants. After class completion, you will be encouraged to join the Rockford YMCA Rowing Club where you can continue to perfect your rowing skills. Come dressed for outdoor activity. Class brochures are available at the Welcome Center.
