DISCOVER ROWING :
Discover Rowing through the YMCA´s "Learn to Row" class. The session this year is going to be held on June 14,15 and 16th. This class does require a swim test consisting of a 200 yd. swim and treading water for 5 minutes and this needs to be completed before the class. The weekend long clinic is held early mornings on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Following are the class times: Friday’s class 5:30-7:00 am, Sat. and Sun. 6:00-10:00 am. Over the years we have found this format allows you more water time to master your skills. We do take a break from the water and use Video as feedback for all class members.
Our goal is to introduce the new rower to the basics and fundamentals of rowing. These skills are taught through the use of indoor rowing machines in the club boathouse along with on the water sessions on the Rock River. These classes will be taught by our Rowing Coach and experienced rowers.
Fee: $100.00 for members/ $125.00 non-members.
THE ROWING TRADITION:
For over a century rowing on the Rock River has provided participants a new “view” of the river. After you have crewed on the ROCK, you will know what unites rowers everywhere. The coordination, camaraderie, sense of purpose and the total body workout keep the tradition alive.
Since 1870, both sweep and sculling rowers meet each spring in anticipation of a ROCK RIVER rowing season filled with the pursuit of perfection and harmony when power, rhythm, and speed combine.
