MASTERS SWIM

For swimmers over age 18 who want to work out with other adults on a regular basis. Swim to compete, work on your technique, or just for fun and exercise. Summer Season is from May 9-August 14. Coach Virginia will be on deck Tuesday and Thursday evenings. All other practices are team-led with a written workout.

OUTDOOR ROCK CLIMBING DAY TRIPS

Enjoy a day in the great outdoors, and let our trained instructors guide you on an unforgettable climbing trip. Meet us at NEB to ride the bus or meet us there; either way our facilitators will bring all of the gear we need for an exciting day of outdoor rock climbing at Devils Lake State Park*, and Mississippi Palisades State Park. Participants will meet in the parking lot of the NORTHEAST BRANCH 15 minutes prior to trip departure times. Participants are responsible for their own food and drinks.
*Devils Lake State Park requires all cars to purchase a parking sticker.

FENCING INSTRUCTION

Basic fencing instruction can improve your balance, coordination, ability to think under pressure, and reaction speed. Get a great workout for your mind and body while learning a unique skill. We promise that experienced fencers will get a great workout as well.

DISCOVERING ROWING

Discover Rowing through the YMCA´s "Learn to Row" class. The classes are held twice a year in June and July. This weekend-long clinic is held early in the morning on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Our goal is to introduce the new rower to the basics and fundamentals: a rowing machine teaches the basic stroke along with on-the-water sessions. These classes will be taught by our new rowing coach and experienced rowers.

JUNIOR PROGRAM
A Junior Program is also available. Practice starts June 13 and runs through July 31, Monday - Friday 6:30 - 8:00 am at the Boathouse by the Whitman St. Bridge.

TRIATHLON TRAINING PROGRAM

This program is designed to familiarize athletes of all levels with the skills and techniques necessary to ensure that your first or next race is a positive experience. Classroom sessions and group workouts along with individual training plans will be a part of the program. We plan on working with the Masters Swimming and Road Crew programs. Whether you are an experienced Ironman veteran or a person interested in completing a beginner sprint triathlon, you will be prepared to accomplish your task in one of the fastest growing participant sports in the world. Give it a "TRI"!
Instructor: Gary Geiger is a USAT Certified coach as well as a USA Cycling coach. Gary is a 30-year veteran of triathlon competitions, a four-time All American, and a four-time member of the USA Team to the ITU Long Distance World Championships. He has raced in France, Spain, and Denmark as well as in many races in the USA. His ten Ironman efforts have garnered a number of podium finishes. He qualified twice to compete in the prestigious Ironman World Championships in Kona, Hawaii. His passion is working with motivated individuals to create an athlete/coach relationship that encourages pushing through mental and physical boundaries. He will help you reach your highest performance goals while enjoying the process.

ROCK THE RACE, ADVENTURE RACE

Get wet and dirty in the YMCA of Rock River Valley's Annual Rock the Race. This 8 hour or 4 hour adventure race is designed to challenge both novice and experienced racers. Held throughout numerous Winnebago County Forest Preserves, Rock the Race will lead you on a completely unique adventure. Teams of 2-4 racers in co-ed or non co-ed divisions will plot a course utilizing multiple disciplines. The open format race includes biking, canoeing, trekking, orienteering, and ropes section. This is an exciting, challenging, and most of all FUN adventure race! All proceeds go to funding youth and adventure programs at YMCA Camp Winnebago.
